| In any service industry, labor is the largest expense that most companies experience. For decades traditional time clocks have provided an element of control, but high costs, complexity of implementation, and the ease with which employees can circumvent controls are rampant and reduce the value these systems provide to their organizations. IT Powered implemented a web based timekeeping and biometric authentication system for an owner/operator of 175+ assisted living homes located throughout the United States that employs over 3600 people. Labor was their single largest expense costing over $70 million annually.
Even though few employees were computer savvy, they easily learned the system and were eager to participate in the new “high-tech” part of their job. In addition, employees have embraced the additional information the complete solution provides. Employees have instant access to view and print their “hours-worked” and “personal time off” balances — information that was never before available at their fingertips. The right choice saves money |

| Biometric (Fingerprint) Authentication | ||
| “Passwords exposed - Users are the weakest link.” SC Magazine, June 2003 While larger organizations struggle with the costs and compliance relates to complex policies, involving multiple passwords, small and medium sized businesses have the opposite problem – they don’t have the IT infrastructure or dedicated security resources to enforce strong policies. They are vulnerable, and they know they are vulnerable. 80% of security attacks investigated by Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), are password-related. 35-50% of all help-desk calls are password related and password issues cost approximately $150 per user per year. - SC Magazine, “Passwords Exposed” June 2003 In addition, with the growing reliance on technology many companies are struggling to balance security and regulatory concerns (like HIPAA) with true ease-of-use for easy adoption by employees. Although there are many options to blend these requirements, the use of biometric (fingerprint) authentication is the most successful. This solution eliminates the pain of end users having to remember (and change) their username and password, and eliminates the potential for defrauding the system – as duplicating another person’s fingerprint would be extremely difficult. IT Powered and its partner, Digital Persona, have implemented solutions which, cost effectively, solve the security and ease of use problems. |

| Check Scanning and ACH Conversion | ||
| Keeping cash on hand can be dangerous, while accepting debit or credit cards can be costly. But in many cases the convenience of credit and debit cards has outweighed the low cost of accepting checks. For most non-retail businesses, the drudgery of check processing includes filling out lengthy deposit slips and mailing (at additional cost) or hand carrying checks to the bank (only to wait in line and waste precious time). Even after the deposit is made, most companies are faced with touching the transaction again in their accounting system. In some industries, like property management, the volume of the transactions is very low and employees may delay their check processing in favor of other, more pressing work.
IT Powered has engineered a unique solution using check image scanners to capture the check image and a web front-end to present the image and collect the few other required elements. A back-end process then converts the data into an ACH transactions and imports the collection information into the billing and accounting application. One client company estimated that it took five to seven days before checks they received were translated into cash in the bank; now it only takes one to two days. They also estimated that they gained an hour each week using the simplified cash receipts process with the automatic accounting imports – that’s time they can now devote to their residents! | ||
